Obtaining a Software Certificate (PA)

The process for obtaining a Software User Certificate (as a downloadable document) consists in four steps in the following order:

  1. Configuring the web browser. To avoid any problems when requesting/downloading the certificate, please consult this section and follow the instructions given.
  2. Applying for your certificate online. On completion of the application procedure, you will be given a code which you will need when you are asked to give proof of your identity and subsequently, when downloading the certificate.
  3. Proving your identity at a Registration Office. To prove your identity, you must go to the Registration Office appointed by your body for the registration of Public Administration certificates.
  4. Downloading your User Certificate. About two hours after having proved your identity at a Registration Office by using the application code obtained in Step 2, you will be able to download your certificate from this website by logging into Certificate Download.

RECOMMENDATION: Certificate Backup Copy.Once you have obtained your User Certificate, you can use it on the equipment and web browser on which you completed the process. However, the user is strongly recommended to make a backup copy on an independent support. Remember that, when making the backup copy, you will be asked to provide a password to protect the file. You should keep the backup copy and password in a safe place as in future, you will be asked to provide it to be able to use the certificate.
